JFK Elementary's 5th Graders Illuminate Science with Hands-On Learning
On October 22, 2024, Ms. Janet Hernandez’s 5th-grade class at JFK Elementary took science to the next level with a practical exploration of light phenomena. Students conducted hands-on experiments with mirrors, prisms, concave, and convex lenses to understand reflection and refraction. The young scientists were thrilled as they created rainbows, tested light reflections, and examined how lenses bend light.
“The students’ enthusiasm was contagious,” Ms. Hernandez shared. “Seeing them connect the dots between theory and real-world application was incredible.”
Laughter and exclamations of wonder filled the classroom as each student shared their discoveries. The event not only enhanced scientific understanding but also showcased teamwork and creativity. The day ended with applause for the class’s dedication and curiosity.
Kudos to Ms. Hernandez’s 5th Grade SMarTies for lighting up the world of learning!
