Federal Law

The Federal and State Programs Department works with State Compensatory Education, Title I Part A, and Title II Part A. Our support is multifaceted and cross-curricular for we serve as liaisons to staff while initiating and supporting different tasks focused on the enhancement of student academic success.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), requires that timely and meaningful consultation occur between the local school district and private nonprofit (PNP) officials. District consultation with participating PNP schools includes determining equitable services for private school students and teachers [Sections 1117 and 8501]. The La Joya ISD Federal Programs Department will be hosting its annual consultation with Private Non-Profit Schools that are within the district’s attendance area.  The meeting will take place on Monday, June 6, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at the Ebony Room located in the Nellie Schunior Administration Building (200 W. Expwy 83, La Joya, TX.)  Consultations after this date will be ongoing and/or as needed.
