La Joya, TX - La Joya Independent School District is proud to announce that the 2024 Local Designation System Expansion and Modification Application for the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) has been accepted. This significant milestone marks a crucial step in recognizing and rewarding our teachers for their outstanding performance in the classroom.
The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) elevates the education profession by providing districts with systems and funding to recruit promising new teachers, retain their best teachers, and incentivize teachers to work in high-needs schools and difficult to staff positions.
"We are thrilled about the acceptance of our TIA application. This program not only recognizes our hard-working educators but also motivates us to continue striving for excellence," said Ahmad Harb, an Master TIA Designated Teacher at Palmview High School. "It's a great opportunity to enhance our teaching practices and make a positive impact on our students' lives."
TIA will soon announce a series of training webinars for the 2024-25 school year to support districts implementing local designation systems.
District Next Steps
SY2024-25: Data Collection and Implementation
Implement and collect teacher data for the updated local designation system during the 2024-25 school year in accordance with the accepted Expansion and Modification Application. This includes all teacher observation and student growth measure requirements for teachers in eligible categories on the Weighting tab.
Data collected should reflect the changes made from the accepted 2024 Expansion and Modification Application for Fall 2025 Data Submission. Note: districts submitting data for Fall 2024 Data Submission will submit data aligned to the 2023-24 system prior to expansion/modification.
Refer to the updated TIA Planning Guide for Data Capture Year for best practices in collecting, recording, and analyzing data in preparation for TIA Data Submission.
Districts currently approved to issue designations must submit the Annual Program Submission by August 30, 2024. Refer to the linked guidance for more information.
October 2024: Data Submission for Current 2023-24 System of Record
Submit 2023-24 student growth and teacher observation data for teachers in eligible teaching assignments by October 17, 2024. Review the updated guidance for fall 2024 Data Submission.
Only districts with full system approval may omit teachers on appraisal waivers. Use waivers sparingly as they may impact future data validation.
A $500 data processing fee per proposed teacher designation is due in early November 2024 after the final data file is confirmed. All fees will be reimbursed to the district in September 2025, regardless of system approval status.
February 2025: Data Validation and System Approval Notification
TEA will issue local designation system approval status after a holistic review of district’s system implementation and data validation results based on 2023-24 submitted data. Note: designations will not yet be finalized.
April 2025: Allotment Verification
Approved districts and districts employing designated teachers will verify and confirm 2024-25 designations and allotments.
