Brantley and parents

As the second semester gets under way, Tabasco Elementary has welcomed its newly appointed interim principal, Mrs. Vilma Brantley.

“I am deeply committed to creating an inclusive, safe, and thriving environment where we all can excel,” Brantley said in her written address to the community.

Brantley, already established in her role as Tabasco’s Assistant Principal, began to serve in this new capacity on Jan. 20. In an announcement to the community, Mrs. Brantley outlined three target areas of focus: improving attendance, implementing curriculum effectively, and enhancing campus culture.

Evidence of these targets has already been evidenced through various perfect attendance incentives including our recent Painting Party, through emphasis on opportunities for staff to plan and collaborate, and through themed hallways first for the holiday season and now for February’s Valentine’s season, featuring a wall where students and staff can share what they love about their school.

Brantley has more than 15 years of experience in teaching and administration.

Brantley has also expressed that a strong emphasis on parent and community feedback is especially important to her.

“Your voices matter, and I encourage you to share your thoughts, ideas, and concerns with me as we navigate this journey together,” she said.
