The Juarez-Lincoln Mighty Huskies UIL Robotics teams competed in the FTC South Texas Area Championship this past Saturday, February 3, 2024. The event, held at the Mission Event Center in Mission, Texas, hosted 40 teams from all over the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo. All teams were competing to qualify for the 10 spots available to represent the FTC South Region in the UIL State Championship and FTC State Championship that will be held March 21 - 23 in Belton, Texas.
The Huskies fought their way through 40 teams and ranked 4th and 9th at the end of their qualifying matches. Team 19884, ranked 4th, chose their sister team, Team 13714 and Team 18908 from Laredo as their alliance partners. They faced the 1st place alliance team, composed of teams from Pioneer H.S., Laredo Cigarroa H.S., and Sharyland H.S. and won 2-1. They went on to face the 2nd place Alliance team, composed of teams from Laredo Hector Garcia Early College, Laredo Cigarroa H.S., and Mission Veterans H.S. and won 2-1 earning the right to be called FTC South Texas Area Champions.
