In celebration of this day, LJISD held its 2nd annual Girls in STEM Day, honoring women excelling in these fields.
In an era where innovation knows no bounds, La Joya ISD took a significant step towards fostering diversity and inclusivity in the realm of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with its celebration of Texas Girls in STEM Day on March 6, 2024. Hosted at the La Joya ISD Wellness Center, the event was organized by the LJISD Science, Math, and Technology Department.
The primary goal of this celebration was to encourage and increase awareness of STEM careers among LJISD girls while also commemorating and honoring the achievements of women who have made remarkable strides in these fields.
Every 5th-grade girl within LJISD had the opportunity to participate in this enlightening event. Engaging in hands-on STEM activities, these young learners were able to explore various facets of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in a supportive and empowering environment.
From coding challenges to robotics demonstrations, the participants were immersed in many interactive activities designed to ignite their curiosity and passion for STEM.
